Cycle Parade 64cm Mulberry Silk Luminous Gauze Scarf

Design

Cycle Parade is an illustrated square built around a ring of Victorian cyclists. Riders in coats and long skirts freewheel around a central medallion on a soft sage ground, while the outer field is filled with penny-farthings and early safety bicycles drawn in fine orange and grey line. Striped ribbon bows and small drum motifs punctuate the border, and a slim sage frame closes the composition.

Craft

The scarf is made from 100% Mulberry Silk in a luminous jacquard gauze. The cloth is very light, with a fine crinkled texture that catches the light and gives the illustration a soft, almost printed-paper quality. At approximately 11g the whole square packs down to nothing.

The finished size is 64 x 64 cm and the edge is finished with a contrast whipstitch in red and cream that frames the sage border. Please allow for slight size measure variations in finished silk pieces.

How to Wear It

A light 64 cm square is the easiest size to keep on hand through spring and summer.

• Fold it into a narrow band and tie it at the neck so the red whipstitch edge shows.
• Knot it loosely over a light knit to bring the illustration forward.
• Tie it to a bag handle where the bicycle motifs stay readable.
• Use it as a hair tie or headband, since the gauze holds a knot without bulk.

Care

Handle Mulberry Silk gently, and keep it away from jewellery, rough surfaces, and perfume. Hand wash below 30 degrees with a mild detergent, do not wring, dry in the shade, and press on a low setting from the reverse. For washing and storage, follow our Silk Care Guide.
