The peony motifs are woven directly into the cloth — not printed onto the surface. Made in Hangzhou. Dimensions: 175 cm x 53 cm. Slight variations of ±3 cm may occur.

The peony is the undisputed flower of wealth and honour in Chinese culture. Known as — the King of Flowers — it has graced imperial robes, palace ceramics, and silk paintings for over a thousand years. Here, large peony blooms are rendered in deep purple and soft lavender, their petals layered in the manner of classical ink painting.The composition fills the cloth with quiet confidence. Blooms overlap and recede across a pale ground, so the design has depth and movement without ever becoming restless. The purple and blue-grey tones give this colourway a cooler, more contemplative mood than the other colourways in the series — refined, considered, and distinctly memorable.
THE CRAFT / Jacquard Plain Crepe Satin (提花素绉缎)
Plain crepe satin — 素绉缎 — combines a satin face with a crepe structure. The result is a surface that is smooth and luminous without being stiff or heavy. The drape is fluid and the handle is exceptionally soft against the skin.The jacquard weave constructs the peony motifs within the fabric itself during weaving. This is distinct from printed silk, where designs are applied after the cloth is made.The woven motifs, in turn, catch the light differently from the ground fabric — creating a subtle tonal relief that is only fully visible when the shawl moves.At 14 momme, this shawl is also lightweight enough for year-round wear. It breathes well in spring and summer, while offering a gentle layer of warmth in cooler months.
