Ice Blue Ombré 175cm Double-Layered Silk Shawl
Long shawl in double-layered mulberry silk with machine-stitched edges (24 momme total weight, 100% mulberry silk).
The Ice Blue Ombré is a statement piece built for both beauty and substance. Two layers of 12 momme pure silk are bonded together to create a luxuriously weighted shawl with the kind of opaque, saturated colour that single-layer silk simply cannot achieve. At 175cm, it wraps generously around the shoulders, drapes elegantly as a travel companion, and brings genuine warmth to cooler days without the bulk of heavier fabrics.

DESIGN / About the Design
The design draws its inspiration from the unpredictable beauty of watercolour painting, where pigment meets water and the two negotiate their own boundaries. Deep ocean blue pours across the silk in broad, confident washes, meeting softer pools of teal and mineral grey before dissolving into passages of pure white. Hints of botanical forms — perhaps the memory of flowers or drifting clouds — emerge and recede within the colour field, never fully defined, always suggestive. The overall effect is one of movement and depth, as though the silk has captured a single, fleeting moment of coastal weather. Every fold reveals a different composition, making this a shawl that never looks quite the same twice.
THE CRAFT / Double-Layered Silk Construction
This shawl is constructed from two separate layers of 12 momme mulberry silk, bonded together to produce a combined weight of 24 momme. This double-layered approach delivers several qualities that set it apart from conventional silk scarves. The fabric has genuine body and substance, draping with an elegant weight that stays in place rather than slipping off the shoulders. The doubled construction eliminates the transparency common in lighter silks, producing rich, fully opaque colour with real visual depth. The air trapped between the two layers provides natural insulation, offering warmth on cool evenings without adding bulk. The result is a silk shawl that bridges the gap between a decorative accessory and a practical wardrobe staple — beautiful enough for special occasions, warm enough for everyday autumn and winter wear.
GUIDE / Styling Tips
At 175cm, this shawl offers the length to style in ways a square scarf cannot. Loop it loosely around the neck in a relaxed double wrap for effortless warmth. Drape it asymmetrically over one shoulder with an evening outfit for a sculptural silhouette. Fold it lengthways and belt it over a coat for a layered look with structure. Its generous width also makes it a natural blanket scarf for travel — compact enough to roll into a bag, substantial enough to replace a cardigan on a flight.
The watercolour palette of ocean blue, teal, and white works beautifully with denim, navy, charcoal, cream, and camel. For a striking contrast, wear it against black or burgundy to let the luminous blues truly glow. This is a year-round piece: light enough for spring breezes, warm enough for winter layering.
